Breedon Pinnacle House Car Park
Thomas Bow City Asphalt have helped the expansion at Breedon Group Headquarters with an extension to the existing car parking outside the Pinnacle House in Spring of this year. Works involved full construction of a new 122 space car park, with landscaping and new lighting to improve overall safety to staff and visitors. The new space also features dedicated electrical vehicle charging points powered by solar panels on the Pinnacle House building.
What makes this job unique is the trial of an electric paver supplied by Dynapac. This state-of-the-art machine was shipped in from Germany. With up to four hours of performance with one single charge and paving capacity of up to 350 t/h, it can pave up to 4,1m with the screed extended. The electric technology significantly reduces our carbon footprint on asphalt laying activities, which will become increasingly important in our inner city sites. Thanks to its high voltage architecture, the Dynapac SD1800W e is capable of handling charging speeds of up to 80kW, charging the battery from 5% to 80% in less than one hour with a CCS2 charger. The high voltage electric components like battery, inverter, DC/DC converter, and electric motor are connected to a high efficiency cooling system, which consists of a bi-directional heat pump with high voltage compressor.
Further trials of electric plant are planned in the coming year as part of our commitment to alternative technologies with a view to meeting our carbon neutral and net-zero plans.
