A17 Fosdyke and East Heckington
Thomas Bow undertook works for Lincolnshire County Council as part of the PRN contract. The works entailed resurfacing and reconstruction of a failed carriageway at the section of A17 Fosdyke and another approximately 9 miles away in East Heckington, waterproofing of Fosdyke Bridge and reconstruction of a 3000m2 layby.
The Contract consisted of two phases, the first as Fosdyke Bridge was scheduled to run for a period of 10 weeks commencing on the 17th July.
The second phase at East Heckington works started on the 4th September and were scheduled to last for three weeks.
Fosdyke Bridge had a multitude of additional unscheduled works, including surfacing works outside the limit of Fosdyke set in the initial tender. This increased the duration of the job from an estimated 10 weeks to 13 weeks. Additionally, Thomas Bow were asked to replace approximately 30km of white lining from the East Heckington site going towards Sleaford. The estimated value of the overall contract was £2 million but this increased to £2.7 million to cover the additional requirements.
